From Bogie to molecular biology, Lifetime Learning has something for everyone
The Friends of Snow Library's winter-spring Lifetime Learning session continues the week of April 4-7 with four new courses. On Monday the 4th, Marc Strauss kicks off his series of Humphrey Bogart films with a screening of "The Petrified Forest.” Wednesday morning brings entomologist Larry Dapsis and his class on "Forensic Entomology: Who Dunnit?", exploring how insects can be used to investigate problems ranging from food contamination to violent crimes. Later on Wednesday, Orleans Elementary School Principal Elaine Pender, together with OES teachers, lead a panel discussion on "The Exciting State of Today’s Elementary Education." And on Thursday, Ian Ives, director of Mass. Audubon’s Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, presents a photographic journey of the Audubon’s mid-Cape sanctuaries.
Continuing courses include part two of Stephen Munroe’s series on "How Life Began: Evolution and the Molecular Basis of Life,” and Steve and Jeff Bornemeier’s Novels and Ideas discussion of “The Woodlanders” by Thomas Hardy. And Joseph Marchio returns to present part three of his series ”For the Love of Opera," focusing this time on Mozart's "Don Giovanni" (the in-person option for this classis no longer available; register for Zoom only).
