Lifetime Learning's spring session concludes April 27 

The Friends of Snow Library’s 2023 winter-spring Lifetime Learning session concludes the week of April 24 with three one-time-only courses while three other courses wrap up.  Of special note: on Wednesday, April 26, from 10:30 to noon, Steve Gass will present a free class on “Building Our Future: The Case for a New Snow Library” about charting a new path forward for this heart of the community of Orleans. 

Monday, April 24, 1:30 to 3:00.  In an informative and educational one-class course, “IFAW’s Marine Mammal Rescue and Research Program,” the IFAW Rescue Team shares insights about marine rescues and cutting-edge veterinary care as well as the global Fund’s innovative and ground-breaking research.  

Tuesday, April 25, 10:30 to noon.  Paul Kelleher concludes his course “Culture Wars: The 1619 Project Controversies,” an in-depth look at “The 1619 Project.” This class will consider the question of what history is and who should decide what history is taught in schools. Zoom only.

Tuesday, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00. In this fun class, “Play Ball!!!,”  key people from the Firebirds will talk about all things baseball in Orleans, including the history of Eldredge Park and Orleans summer baseball.  Be surprised by appearances from former Firebirds/Cardinals noteworthy personalities.

Wednesday, April 26, 10:30 to noon. “Building Our Future: The Case for a New Snow Library” presented by Steve Gass, Retired Interim Director of the MIT Libraries and a member of the Board of Trustees of Snow Library. FREE

Wednesday, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00.  “The Songs You Love: Johnny Mercer & Hoagie Carmichael'' Host John Whelan concludes a look at a variety of their songs from the Great American Songbook.  

Thursday, April 27, 1:30 to 3:00. Joseph Marchio, Assistant Conductor of the Cape Symphony and Music Director of the Chatham Chorale, concludes his course about the development of the orchestra during this era which features composers such as Vivaldi, Pachelbel, and Telemann.

Registration for classes is ongoing. Complete course information and registration forms are available at Snow Library and online at www.friendsofsnowlibrary.org/lifetime-learning-program. Brochures and registration sheets are also available at many local libraries and councils on aging. The suggested donation is $10 per course.  Please register at least 24 hours before the class.
