See ‘The Lady in the Lake,’ discuss ‘America's Misunderstood Presidents,’ explore ‘The Miracle of Motown’

The seventh week of the Lifetime Learning Fall session beginning on November 8 will include the following six courses:

Monday afternoon, November 8 from 1:30 - 4:00, Marc Strauss presents the fourth and final in a four-class course called Classic Films Noir. In this class, Professor Strauss will introduce and show Lady in the Lake (1947). A discussion of the film will follow the screening. This course is zoom only and will not be recorded.

Tuesday morning, November 9 from 10:30 - 12:00, Russ Leng, political science professor at Middlebury College, presents the second of three classes called WWII: Reflections and Lessons. The second class is called To Bomb or Not to Bomb: Fateful Choices of WWII. This course is Zoom only.

Tuesday afternoon, November 9 from 1:30 - 3:00, Richard Stewart, teacher of US and world history, presents the first of two classes in his series on America’s Misunderstood Presidents. The President for this session is Andrew Jackson, 1829-1837.

Wednesday afternoon, November 10 from 1:30 - 3:15, John Whalen continues A Close Look at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the second of three classes John will explore the “The Rise of the Groups & The Miracle of Motown” who were an important part of rock ’n’ roll. This course is a hybrid.

Friday morning, November 12 from 10:30-12:00, English teacher and department head, Joe Auciello presents the final of three classes on selected short stories of Ernest Hemingway. This course is a hybrid.

Friday afternoon, November 12 from 1:30-3:00, Joe Marchio presents the third of four classes on how the architecture of performances venues influences the musical experience and vice versa. This class will focus on Kings College Chapel in Cambridge. This course is a hybrid.

You can register by mail, at the library, or online. Registration is ongoing. Please register at least 24 hours before the class. You can pick up brochures and a registration form and register at Snow Library, 67 Main Street, Orleans. Your registration and donation can also be mailed in.
