From Buddhist meditation to Satanic Verses, Lifetime Learning has something for everyone

The sixth week of the 2021 winter-spring session of Lifetime Learning at Snow Library includes the following new and ongoing courses.

On Tuesday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Joseph Auciello presents the final class in his five-part series titled "Salman Rushdie, The Satanic Verses." Joe will conclude his discussion on this major literary work and its social, religious and cultural references. Later on Tuesday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Richard Finnegan presents the third part of his four-class course that explores what happened to the optimism and dreams that today’s baby boomers held in the 1960s. …

On Wednesday, March 10, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., Leigh and David Fisher present their course "Reel Time: Great Movies from Great Directors." The movie will be introduced, viewed, and discussed. This week’s movie, directed by Joseph Mankiewicz, is "Letter to Three Wives" starring Jeanne Crain, Ann Southern, and Linda Darnell. This course will not be recorded.

On Friday, March 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Paul Coteus and John Ward conclude their six-part course on "Weather & Climate Change Forecasting Explained, with Specifics for Cape Cod." Also on Friday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., ordained Buddhist meditation leader James Kershner continues his three-part course called "Meditation in Stressful Times." Kershner will demonstrate and teach the ancient practice of mindfulness meditation.

Register online, at the library (drop your registration in the drop box), or by mail. Registration is ongoing. Please register at least 48 hours prior to any class. There is a suggested donation of $10 per course.
