Lifetime Learning continues
/The Friends of Snow Library’s 2023 Winter-Spring Lifetime Learning session continues next week with courses available online and in person in the library’s Craine Room. All are recorded and available for viewing again.
On Monday, April 17, view and discuss Arsenic and Old Lace, the last film in theater professor Marc Strauss’s series “Cary Grant Comedies,” online from 1:30 to 4 p.m. (Zoom only.)
On Tuesday, April 18, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Paul Kelleher continues his course on “Culture Wars: The 1619 Project Controversies,” an in-depth look at “The 1619 Project.” This class will examine the question of reparations to Black Americans (Zoom only). Also on Tuesday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., teacher and yin yoga instructor Dawn Spunzo presents the second of two classes on “Keys to Wellness at Any Age: Breathing & Yin Yoga.”
Peggy Kelleher concludes her series on “Women of the Trojan War” on Wednesday, April 19 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This class will discuss “Women as Spoils of War.” (Zoom only.). Later on Wednesday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., John Whelan continues the course “The Songs You Love: Johnny Mercer & Hoagie Carmichael,” showcasing a variety of their songs from the Great American Songbook.
Wednesday evening, Steve and Jeff Bornemeier wrap up their course “Novels and Ideas: ‘Awakenings’ II” with a discussion of Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, April 20, Scott Harshbarger, former Mass. Attorney General, returns to discuss and evaluate the strength and fragility of American democracy and the rule of law since the 2022 midterm elections from 10:30 to noon (Zoom only). And on Thursday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Joseph Marchio, assistant conductor of the Cape Symphony and music director of the Chatham Chorale, presents “Music of the Baroque,” illustrating the development of the orchestra during this era with composers of the period, including Bach and Handel. The final class will be presented on April 27.
