Lifetime Learning offers new courses in April
/The Friends of Snow Library’s 2023 winter-spring Lifetime Learning session resumes in April with new and continuing courses. All courses are available online and three are also presented in person at the Craine Room in the library.
Wednesday, April 5, 10:30 am to noon. Peggy Kelleher presents “Women of the Trojan War,” a course of three classes that considers overlooked heroines of the ancient world. The first class takes a look at “Women as Disruptors & Restorers: Helen & Penelope.” Zoom only.
Wednesday, April 5, 5 to 6:30 pm. “Novels & Ideas: ‘Awakenings’ II” continues with a discussion of "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri.
Thursday, April 6: 10:30 am to noon. The “1860s to 1920s: Race and Class in America” is considered by history teacher Meg Mahoney with a focus on race and class in the post-Civil War era. This is the second class in her examination of the interaction of freed slaves and new immigrants with the existing society and how the rise of industry impacted that society.
Thursday, April 6, 1:30 to 3 pm. Joseph Marchio, assistant conductor of the Cape Symphony and Music Director of the Chatham Chorale, presents the second class on the “Music of the Baroque.” Marchio illustrates the development of the orchestra during this era with many of the famous composers of the period, including Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Bach and Handel.
