Sewer work to affect library parking lot

The town of Orleans’ wastewater infrastructure project includes the installation of a pump station at the village green across from Snow Library. The work began on Sept. 13 and will continue through November.

During construction, a portion of the library’s front parking lot will be blocked off. Excavators, cranes and other vehicles and equipment will be moving in and out of the parking lot, and a staging area will be set up on Main Street in the lane closest to the library. Police officers will be on site to guide motor vehicles entering or exiting the library lot and to assist pedestrians who need to cross Main Street to reach the library.

The construction work is expected to take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library will remain open during construction. Parking in the back lot will be available on most days. During certain phases of the project, however, the entire library parking lot will be closed. It is anticipated that full lot closures will happen or about October 15, October 30 and during the week of November 1-7.
