Women at sea, art at the Louvre, and birds in your back yard: Lifetime Learning continues!

The sixth week of the 2020 Fall Session of Lifetime Learning at Snow Library features an array of new and ongoing online courses, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 with Barbara Semple’s stories of “Women At Sea,” drawn from the journals of Semple’s sea-going great aunt and depicting life aboard a sailing vessel in the late 1800s. Also on Monday, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., Marc Strauss presents a discussion and screening of “Hello Dolly!”, the fourth movie in his series covering “Five Decades of Film Musicals: The 1930s-1970s.”

On Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Russ Leng presents the final class in his series on “American Diplomacy: Three Cold War Era Negotiations,” this time examining the Camp David Accords of 1978. That afternoon from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Peggy Kelleher continues her course on art and myth with a virtual tour of artworks at the Louvre in Paris.

Thursday, Nov. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Joseph Auciello continues his series on “John Updike: The Maples Stories,” and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. John Whelan continues to look at “Where Rock & Roll Has Gone” with an exploration of the lives and music of Tina Turner and Billy Joel.

Friday, Nov. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Stephen Munroe wraps up “It’s in Your DNA! An Introduction to the Human Genome. And from 1: 30 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Stephanie Ellis of Wild Care talks about how to attract native birds to your back yard in the second installment of her series on “Living With Our Wild Neighbors.”
