Come to the Craine Gallery for a talk by author Christie Lowrance. Her book, Nature’s Ambassador: The Legacy of Thornton W. Burgess delves into Burgess’s fascinating life and legacy.
For over 100 years, the animal books and stories of beloved children’s author Thornton W. Burgess have delighted millions of children and their parents. However, there was much more to Burgess, the man, than just a writer of children’s books: he was a dedicated naturalist who was honored by prestigious scientific institutions for his advocacy of wildlife and conservation practices that still resonate today. Christie has spent years examining Burgess’s life and work, and is eager to share the story of his extraordinary impact on early environmentalism and children’s literature.
Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing after the talk. All are welcome!
