The Waste No Water Tour Visits Snow Library

The Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Technology Center (MASSTC) is coming to the Craine Room as part of their Waste No Water Library Tour, a Cape-wide program series focusing on the wastewater successes and challenges each town faces. There will be a screening of a documentary, followed by a presentation and Q&A. Anyone who is interested in the topic of wastewater and wants to be part of positive change on the Cape is encouraged to attend and learn more about how individual efforts fit into the Cape and Islands’ ongoing wastewater puzzle. Artist Reception: Christine Fitzsimmons

A reception for Christine Fitzsimmons, whose abstract oil paintings are on display in the Craine Gallery through December, will be held in the Craine Room. All are welcome. Christine’s exhibit, What Is It? An Exploration of Abstract Art, features paintings that portray a sensitivity to light, color, and composition. They capture energy and emotion, rather than reality. Her work invites viewers to forgo the question of “What is it?” and instead ask themselves “How does it make me feel?”

In this standalone lecture, Gordon Talley, Directing Coordinator of Yale’s School of Drama, will explore the colorful photographic works of Eliot Porter and Joel Meyerowitz and discuss the significance of color in photography. Porter and Meyerowitz created ethereal seascapes and landscapes infused with light in all its hues. The class will look at these for pure joy, as well as to understand why photography’s transition from black and white to color was a watershed in both its acceptance as art and ascendence as a prime vehicle of communication.
