Come to the Craine Room to hear author Roger A. Smith talk about his latest book, The Coachman. The second installation in the Rian Krieger series, The Coachman continues to follow the story of the twelve-year-old tomboy. While Rian’s father plans to discipline her by sending her abroad for boarding school, he faces his own difficulties as their hometown of Philadelphia undergoes economic and social strain. When two visitors from Tsarist Russia arrive, Rian must decide if they can be of help to her and her father.

Roger has long been fascinated by history, and previously taught the subject to high schoolers. Now, he has embarked on his next adventure in life, and is using his knowledge and passion for history, social justice, and more to make the past come alive in readers’ hands.
