Join the Climate Action Network of Orleans and the Climate Action Committee of Eastham for an informative lecture on electric vehicles (EVs) and an opportunity to examine an array of these cars.
You may have noticed an increase in electric vehicles on the road, but what are they, who is driving them, and why? Members of the Eastham Climate Action Committee, Orleans Climate Action Network, and local EV owners will discuss the differences between EVs, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) & evolving Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs). Attendants will learn how EVs lower air pollution, how they compare driving locally versus road trips, how owners save money, and what it takes to maintain these vehicles. They will also learn some of the terminology associated with EVs, as well as the Government incentives for owning an EV and their usefulness beyond transportation.
After the info briefing, attendants are invited to tour the EVs and ask the owners about their cars. No test drives are allowed. The electric vehicles on display will include a Tesla Model 3 (mid-size sedan), Tesla Model Y, VW ID.4 (small crossover SUV), Chevy Bolt (sub-compact SUV), Cadillac Lyriq (mid-size SUVs), and Kia EV9 (SUV crossover).
Attendants of this talk are asked to park at the Nauset Middle School, 70 MA- 28. Keep to the right as you enter the lot, and then walk down the steps to the library. Admission is free and all are welcome. Sponsored by the Climate Action Network of Orleans and the Climate Action Committee of Eastham.
