Lifetime Learning: Clark Gable & Jean Harlow - What a Chemistry! Part Four

  • Snow Library 67 Main Street Orleans, MA United States (map)

In the fourth and final part of this Zoom-only course, taught by Marc Strauss, viewers will continue to learn about an array of films starring Clark Gable (1901-1960) and Jean Harlow (1911-1937). Gable and Harlow were two early-thirties film stars who teamed up for six films; this series showcases four of them. Years before Gable made his most famous film, 1939’s Gone with the Wind, his rising popularity met its match in an even younger spitfire of a performer. Sparks flew between them, and their collaboration hit its peak during the Pre-Code era, producing powerful dramas with an electric energy unsurpassed to this day. Marc will introduce each film, provide historical context and lead a lively discussion afterwards. This class will be centered around Wife vs. Secretary (1936).
