Lifetime Learning: Irish Film Festival

  • Snow Library 67 Main Street Orleans, MA United States (map)

Course instructor Mary Ann Eaton will introduce each film and establish its context in Irish history and culture. Discussion follows. The series continues with a screening of “Song of Granite,” a 2017 biographical drama about legendary singer Joe Heaney.

The harsh Irish landscape combined with the myths, fables and songs of his Connemara youth helped shape the fascinating character of Joe Heaney. Enigmatic and complex, Heaney’s devotion to his art came at a huge personal cost. But by the time of his death in 1984, he was widely recognized as one of the most important figures in Irish traditional music, having won fans and admires from every part of the globe.
