Joseph Marchio, Assistant Conductor and Cape Symphony Music Director, will teach the second class of his four-part course on the role of music in movies. He will continue to examine the significance of soundtracks and discuss some of the people responsible for creating scores for the films we love. Oscars are awarded every year, but few people pay attention to who won the Oscars for Best Score. Music in movies is a crucial element of storytelling and performance, and without the musical geniuses responsible for film scores, movies would not be the same. Joe will discuss the impact of music on the movies and examine some of the giants of musical composition, including how they have enriched the movie-going experience.
This second class will dive into the work of composers Erich Korngold and Ennio Morricone. Subsequent classes will focus on the following subjects:
11/14: More movies & composers
11/21: The genius of John Williams
