In this final class, Joseph Marchio, Assistant Conductor and Cape Symphony Music Director, will conclude his exploration of the role of music in movies. He will conclude his examination of the significance of soundtracks and continue to discuss some of the people responsible for creating scores for the films we love. Oscars are awarded every year, but few people pay attention to who won the Oscars for Best Score. Music in movies is a crucial element of storytelling and performance, and without the musical geniuses responsible for film scores, movies would not be the same. Joe will discuss the impact of music on the movies and examine some of the giants of musical composition, including how they have enriched the movie-going experience. This class will look at the genius of John Williams and his contributions to film.
