Despite being underappreciated or outright ignored, women were there at the dawn of photography. A host of visionary women advanced the art: Julia Margaret Cameron, Imogen Cunningham, Margaret Bourke-White, Dorothea Lange, Annie Leibovitz, and many whose fresh outlooks will delight you. This class, led by Gordon Talley, will roughly parallel the history of photography, while looking at women’s contributions in portraiture, documentary, and personal/imaginative imagery.
