Join Rona Leventhal, an award-winning storyteller, as she dramatizes Cape Cod history and legend in “The Prince of Pirates and the Witch of Wellfleet,” a special performance on the lawn behind Snow Library. Come hear the tale of Black Sam Bellamy and his lover, Maria “Goody” Hallet, but be forewarned: this is not your average ‘happily ever after’ ending. Set in the early 1700’s, the story is an interesting intersection between legend and history....and truths that are both factual and real. It addresses the history of the era, universal themes, “gang mentality” of the masses, hypocrisy….and resilience. What does life in puritan New England and and the sociopolitical climate of today have in common? Come watch and you decide. For ages 15 and up. (This program is not recommended for young children).

This special program is presented by Snow Library through a grant from the Orleans Cultural Council.
