LTL harks back to ‘The Way We Were,’ Walker Evans’ America & more
/The Friends of Snow Library's 2022 fall Lifetime Learning session continues with three new courses and five continuing ones. Week seven kicks off with a screening of "The Way We Were," starring Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 as Leigh and David Fisher's Reel Time series (theme: "A Political Potpourri") resumes. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, entomologist Larry Dapsis introduces "Forensic Entomology: Who Dunnit?" at 10:30 a.m., and later that day, at 1:30 p.m. poli sci professor Russ Leng launches his two-part course titled "The Trial of Vladimir Putin and Russian-American Relations After the Ukraine War." …
Gordon Talley takes an in-depth look at Walker Evans' "American Photographs" and Robert Frank's "The Americans" at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9. His class on these influential picture-takers is subtitled "Photographers Who Changed the Way America Sees Itself."
Also coming: John Whelan's continued exploration of Cole Porter and Meredith Willson's careers (1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9), Steve and Jeff Bornemeier's last Novels & Ideas discussion, this time of Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" (5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9) and Dr. Maureen Osborne on "Transgender Identity: Contemporary Controversies and Family Relationships" (10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10). Richard Finnegan continues his course on "Our Torn Supreme Court" at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Unless otherwise noted, courses include both an in-person and online option, accommodating up to 60 registered participants in the Craine Room while the class is simultaneously Zoomed and recorded. Zoom registration is unlimited.
