Lifetime Learning: A Brief History of Earth - 4.6 Billion Years in 4 Weeks, Part Three

In the third class of his four-part course, Stephen Munroe, Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at Marquette University, will continue to cover the broad sweep of Earth’s history. This class will center around the rise of complex life and its movement to land. Each class will continue to examine the history of life on Earth and the conditions it developed in, concluding with a discussion of the geological record of mass extinctions and its implications for understanding the impact of humans on Earth’s environment today. The final class will take place on 10/23 and focus on the various challenges presented by an ever-evolving modern biosphere.
