Kerry Brown returns to Lifetime Learning to lead a four-part course on Shakespeare’s Richard II. A history, a political document, and a moving tragedy, Richard II marks the beginning of Shakespeare’s attempt to define England’s national character and the qualities that make a good king and leader. Richard is deeply flawed and unjust, yet his fate is moving and his voice is poetic. We will discuss these complex human and historical cross currents in this course.
